Knott Family from Seaton in Durham, England

We are tracing the Knott family who originated from Seaton in Durham during the late 1600’s.

The oldest family member we have identified is John Knott who was born in Seaton in about 1699.

Since that time subsequent generations have moved away to other parts of Durham and Northumberland including Trimdon, Hart, Gateshead, Stanton and Cullercoats.

Other key related surnames are Beadnell, Robson, Todd and Wilde.

Trivia:

John Knott was the Innkeeper of the Black Bull Inn in Trimdon around 1860. The inn is still in use today in the main street of Trimdon opposite the Parish Church.
